Caves continued

The caves were built by the Etruscans for olive oil production, quarries, and my favorite, private pigeon houses. The pigeon houses had nooks for the pigeons to nest, they could fly out to find food, then return and would be used as a food source. Pigeon is still served in the restaurants here.
