Monumento Nazionale a Vittorio Emanuele II

This was built to honor the first king of unified Italy. It was not completed until 1935 so it is very new! It is also widely disliked for being so in your face instead of fading in with the other brown buildings. Locals apparently refer to it as the typewriter...though I don't know why. I prefer the nickname the wedding cake. This also houses the tomb of the unknown soldier.
